About

In my work with adults, I use CBT and psychodynamic principles to better understand and collaborate with patients on strategies for reaching their therapeutic goals. Patients can expect that after we confirm understanding of policies and confidentiality, I encourage my patients to share about the challenges that brought them to therapy, their family structure and history, and their goals for treatment. We will establish a plan for treatment and collaborate on our next steps based on the patient’s strengths and desired outcomes. For children, this intake will be completed with the parent(s). My first session with the child will focus on developing the therapeutic relationship.

I primarily have used play therapy and CBT within my practice working with children. Play therapy includes using dolls, imaginative play, art, music, and physical activities. This play supports the child to express themselves, feel comfortable in the space, and provides me with an opportunity to model language and behavior for emotional coping skills and growth.

I want each child to feel comfortable expressing themselves and being open to feedback, making the relationship and rapport essential. Children deserve to be heard and understood and I believe this is at the core of our work together. I incorporate parents in the therapy process via parent sessions, providing guidance and support for strategies and promoting emotional coping skills across settings.

My patients (children, parents, and adult patients) have expressed generally positive experiences of the therapeutic relationship and process. This includes positive feedback on use of strategies and guidance provided during treatment, comfortable and timely communication, flexibility, and resource development. Children have shared that they enjoy my bubbly and silly personality and that this helped them to feel comfortable within the therapy space. Parents have shared appreciation for my flexibility with scheduling and adaptation to their family’s changing needs. Adult patients have expressed gratitude for my balance of active listening and supportive feedback and reflection.
