About
I use a mixed bag of therapeutic approaches with patients. Some of my approaches are CBT, liberation psychotherapy, narrative therapy, and strengths-based therapy. I believe that the patient is the expert of their own life. You know your situation and beliefs best. Therapy is a collaborative process where we work together to process emotions, determine goals, and find what works best for you. Our identities shape our lives whether we realize it or not. I approach each case with cultural humility, knowing that my collective cultural understanding has limitations. but I’m here to provide empathy, an open mind, and listening ears.
With how challenging our world is today, this is also a space to talk about things like global and political anxiety. We can discuss how systems like class, race, and gender influenced how you grew up and who you are today. This is the space to share your stories and understand how they have led you here. I offer a safe environment to be heard and feel valued. You are the expert of your own life, and I’m here to help process.
As a younger clinician, I can provide a near-peer experience to younger patients. My patients who are fellow young adults report feeling comfortable sharing vulnerable parts of their lives. Patients have said I helped challenge long-held narratives about themselves. They have also said I have provided helpful mindfulness exercises and coping skills such as time outdoors and artistic expression.
Starting therapy is a brave and vulnerable decision. It can be hard to share deep inner thoughts with anyone (especially for what may be the first time in a therapeutic setting). By engaging in therapy, you are engaging in self-care and self-advocacy. Congratulations on starting this journey! Let’s get started.
